DEBRIS PICKUP PROCEDURES FOR STATE HIGHWAYS EXPLAINED
St. Tammany Parish cleanup crews are not permitted to pick up debris on the sides of state highways, and residents affected should contact state authorities.
At the end of the day on Thursday, parish workers had collected 1,643,921.45 cubic yards of debris from parish roadways. State crews are also working, and residents with concerns or questions about state services should call 985-375-0100.
State highways include all numbered highways, such as Highways 190, 11, 36, 41, 59, 433, 434, 3228, etc. Many state highways may also have other names, such as Bayou Liberty Road, Thompson Road, Asbury Drive, St. Joe Road and Old Spanish Trail.
“Parish workers are making tremendous progress in the removal of debris,” Parish President Kevin Davis said. “Cleanup operations on state roads and highways are under the direct control of the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development. These sites must be handled by state authorities, so residents whose property abuts state highways should address questions to the state DOTD.”
