St. Tammany Arts Commission Call to Artists
Katharsis: Artistic Expressions by St.
Tammany Resident Artists
in the Aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
The St. Tammany Arts Commission is requesting submissions for a new public art project: Katharsis.
The purpose of this project is to give St. Tammany artists an opportunity to visually express their experiences from Hurricane Katrina. By sharing the artwork of resident artists at sites across the Parish, we hope to encourage dialogue among citizens, and promote healing within our community.
The exhibit will open in mid-January in the St. Tammany Emergency Operations Center. It is our intent to show the work in communities throughout St. Tammany Parish in the months to follow. Seven pieces will be purchased for this project.
GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSION ARE AS FOLLOWS:
We are requesting proposals for artwork to be created specifically for this project. Artists will receive an honorarium of $1000.
Your proposal will consist of 3 parts:
Please submit your proposals via email to dschenck@stpgov.org. Images should be attached as a jpeg. Submissions may be hand delivered to our office on CD or on letter size paper to The St. Tammany Arts Commission, 21490 Koop Drive, Suite 200, in Mandeville. Please do not mail your submissions. Slides will not be accepted.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: November 14, 2005. No entries will be accepted after this date.
ARTWORK COMPLETION DATE: You will be contacted by November 30, 2005. If your proposal is selected the work must be finished by January 9, 2006. The piece will then become a part of the St. Tammany Public Art collection.

The Commission reserves the right to accept or decline any and all proposals, and thanks the artists for their submissions.
