Energy Assistance Available for Low-Income Katrina Victims

                Parish President, Kevin Davis announces that the St. Tammany Parish Department of Community Action has received funding for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) Katrina Relief Disaster Program. Community Action is now making appointments to take applications for this program.  The purpose of the Katrina Relief Disaster Program is to assist low income households with post Katrina utility bills and other services.

                Applications shall be taken by appointment only.   First come, first served.  Priority is given to the households with elderly who have special needs, the elderly, disabled households with children under 5 years, families with foster children, families with children in hospitals in Louisiana who were transferred from New Orleans area hospitals, non elderly persons with special needs and re-united families.  In order to be eligible for assistance, each applicant must provide a FEMA number (whether they were approved or denied), photo ID, social security cards for everyone in the household, proof of income and utility bill.   For an appointment, please contact:

                LIHEAP is targeted to low income families.  If your income falls at or below the federally established income guideline as shown below, then you may qualify:
