PARISH PRESIDENT FEATURED IN NATIONAL MAGAZINE
Parish President Kevin Davis is among several area leaders to be
featured in GQ Magazine’s Men of the Year edition.
GQ’s annual list typically features athletes, actors and other nationally known celebrities. In addition to such luminaries, this year’s edition features half a dozen leaders in the New Orleans metropolitan area and recognizes their achievements in the aftermath of disaster.
Davis’ profile, on page 307 of the December issue, is titled “The Bureaucracy Buster.” In the article accompanying his picture, the magazine acknowledges Davis’ “can-do” attitude after Hurricane Katrina and his refusal to accept unnecessary delays in federal and state aid. Davis has been praised by local leaders and citizens for organizing a multi-agency response in advance of Katrina’s landfall and for coordinating efforts in the first hours and days when communication was limited and outside aid non-existent.
“I’m honored to be included in GQ’s Men of the Year edition,” Davis said. “Certainly, there are many leaders whose efforts in Katrina’s wake are worthy of praise. It is a daily honor to be St. Tammany’s parish president and to work with other extraordinary public servants at all levels. This remains a time of great challenge, and I will continue to do my best in leading and facilitating our recovery as one parish.”
