Parish President’s
Priorities in Washington D.C.
Parish President Kevin Davis leaves for Washington D.C. late this afternoon with a full agenda of recovery related issues. “Drainage, debris, housing, transportation and economic development are our top priorities for this trip,” said Davis. “I will be meeting with members of Congress, attending hearings and following up with meetings at the White House last month to press St. Tammany’s cause.”
Davis will attend a congressional transportation hearing Tuesday where Louisiana Secretary of Transportation Johnny Bradbury is expected to testify. “Transportation improvements are critical in St. Tammany,” said Davis. “Improving traffic flow is essential for both our, and the region’s, short and long term recovery. It has a direct impact on economic development as well as the speed of our recovery.”
Tuesday night Davis will attend President Bush’s State of the Union address. Thursday, he will attend Governor Blanco’s testimony before Congress.
Between these formal hearings and functions, Davis will meet with congressional delegates and members of the administration to explain St. Tammany’s recovery plan and expedite requests for assistance.
