Shannon Davis Named Director of Public Works
 

            Parish President Kevin Davis’ appointment of Shannon Davis as Director of Public Works was confirmed at the February 2^nd Parish Council meeting.  Shannon Davis, no relation to Kevin Davis, has served as Acting Director of Public Works since August 1, 2005 and as Assistant Director since March 1, 2004.

            Following an early career in construction and the trades, Davis worked as Production Supervisor at Domino Sugar and as a Shift Superintendent at the former U.S. Army ammunition plant at the Stennis Space Center.

            Davis currently serves as a Commissioner for Fire District #1.  Past community service includes serving on the Slidell Airport Board, the 1^st Home Rule Charter Commission, and the Regional Planning Commission.  He served on the St. Tammany Parish Police Jury from 1976 to 1980.

            Davis is married to Madeline Davis, director of transportation for the St.  Tammany Parish School Board.  He is the father of four children and the grandfather of eight.  He is a 1961 graduate of Slidell High School.
