MUSIC & DANCE…

NORTHSHORE CAJUN DANCERS PRESENT CAJUN DANCE. Abita Springs Town Hall. February 11. Dances are 8pm-11pm with free dance lessons from 7pm-7:30pm.  Band begins playing at 8pm. Music by Cantee Cajun Band. Members/$6, Non-members/$8, Membership $10 per year. Call 882-3848 or (504)887-1485.

ARTS & FRAMES GALLERY PRESENTS “DREAMS” BY CHRIS CLARK. 503 N. Columbia Street. Opening reception Saturday, February 11, 6-9pm. CITY OF MANDEVILLE: FEBRUARY ARTIST OF THE MONTH. Mandeville City Hall. 3101 E. Causeway Approach, Mandeville. Janet Jordan, comfortable with pastels, oils and pencil, will be exhibiting all three in a collection of new work. Storytime at the St. Tammany Parish Libraries introduces the child to the best in children's literature. Storytimes include nursery rhymes, poetry, fingerplays and songs. For more information, contact your branch library or the Children's Services office at 893-6280 ext. 112. 

ASTONISHING AFTERNOONS AT THE ST. TAMMANY PARISH LIBRARY.

BOOK CLUBS FOR KIDS AT THE ST. TAMMANY PARISH LIBRARY:
Readers ages 10-11 are invited to “Breakfast Book Club”. They will meet Saturday, Feb 11, 10am at the Mandeville Branch.  Book is The Watsons Go to Birmingham by Christopher Paul Curtis. Readers ages 7-9 are invited to their own book club, “Tales and Treats”. They will meet Saturday, Feb 11, 2pm at the Mandeville Branch. Book is Up the Learning Tree by Marcia K. Vaughan. ARTS EVENING 2006: The City of Slidell’s Department of Cultural & Public Affairs is now accepting applications for fine artists who wish to participate in Arts Evening 2006. Application forms may be found in the PR and Media section on the Arts Evening website at www.slidell.la.us/artsevening.  Artists who previously registered for Arts Evening 2005 must re-register for this event. CALL TO ARTISTS AND CRAFTSPEOPLE TO DESIGN BLUE TARP MARDI GRAS COSTUMES: Blue tarp costume auction/contest to benefit local artists and the wetlands offers $250 stipends for selected designers. DEADLINE:  February 10th, 5:00pm. America’s WETLAND, Women of the Storm, and the Louisiana Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism are hosting a blue tarp Mardi Gras costume auction and contest. LOUISIANA PERCENT FOR ART PROGRAM

The Louisiana Percent for Art Program seeks an artist or artist team to create a site-specific “Gateway Sculpture” for the downtown Baton Rouge Market Square located at the Galvez Parking Garage. CLASSES & TRAINING…

SLIDELL ART LEAGUE PASTEL WORKSHOP: 1827 Front St. (Upstairs in the Slidell Train Depot). Saturday, February 11, 10:00am to 2:00pm. Free for members and $10.00 for participants - no reservations are necessary. Beginners and experienced artists are welcome.
