PARISH FINANCE
OFFICE RECOGNIZED FOR EXCELLENCE
The Finance Department of Parish Government has been recognized for outstanding achievement by the Government Finance Officers Association in Chicago.
Finance Director Leslie Long was notified last week that the Parish has qualified for a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting. This honor is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting. The certificate is being awarded for the 2004 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR).
In addition, the Finance Department staff will receive an Award of Financial Reporting Achievement (AFRA).
“We knew we had made tremendous strides towards improving our financial record-keeping in recent years with Leslie’s leadership and oversight,” said Parish President Kevin Davis. “To receive this high honor from GFOA is confirmation that our efforts toward accountability and transparency have been productive and thorough. I’m honored that St. Tammany Parish Government has been the recipient of this award, and I’m proud of the staff here who made it happen.”
