FEBRUARY 28 – 2006 MARDI PARTY AT THE PARK: Bogue Falaya Park, Covington, 12:30 - 3pm. Lions Club and Mystic Krewe of Covington Parades begin at 10am, followed by the Mardi Party in the Park. Covington will be a festive and memorable spot to celebrate Mardi Gras 2006. New Orleans funk, jazz, and traditional Mardi Gras musical numbers. The Mardi Party is family oriented and picnic friendly; coolers and blankets are encouraged. The Kiwanis Club will be on hand with Grilled Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, and soft drinks. LOOKING FOR ARTISTS…

NORTHSHORE ART MARKET: Lee Lane, Downtown Covington. March 11, 2006.  This “rain date” market is to take the place of the canceled Feb. 11th Art Market. The "rain date" market is open to ALL interested artists.  Registration deadline for this market is Feb 25. If you have already been juried in to the art market, you do not need to resubmit a registration form or images. NOCCA|RIVERFRONT OFFERS AUDITION INFORMATION SESSIONS IN ST.TAMMANY PARISH FOR PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS: New Orleans Center for Creative Arts|Riverfront (NOCCA|Riverfront) will conduct audition information sessions for prospective students and their parents on Saturday, March 11, 10 a.m. at the Slidell Branch Public Library (555 Robert Road) and 2 p.m. at the Causeway Branch Public Library (3457 Highway 190, Mandeville). The information sessions provide the opportunity for potential students to ask questions about specific discipline audition requirements. Faculty members from the Visual Arts Department will provide examples of work that a successful candidate should have in their portfolio. Students who are interested in attending are asked to RSVP by calling 504.940.2854 or emailing: bhammell@nocca.com. NOCCA|Riverfront offers instruction in dance, instrumental and vocal music, jazz, drama, musical theatre, theatre design, media arts, visual arts and creative writing. ARTS EVENING 2006: The City of Slidell’s Department of Cultural & Public Affairs is now accepting applications for fine artists who wish to participate in Arts Evening 2006. LOUISIANA PERCENT FOR ART PROGRAM

The Louisiana Percent for Art Program seeks an artist or artist team to create a site-specific “Gateway Sculpture” for the downtown Baton Rouge Market Square located at the Galvez Parking Garage. CLASSES & TRAINING…

SLIDELL CULTURAL CENTER OFFERING "ART IS LIFE" PINS: For a $10 donation (or more) you can have a Support the Arts collectible pin.  Proceeds are dedicated to restoring and rebuilding the Slidell Cultural Center and the return of art exhibits and cultural events throughout the year. After March 1, the pins can be picked up at the Slidell Art League Gallery, on the second floor of the historic Slidell Train Depot, 1827 Front Street. Call 646-4375 for more information.
