THE 2006 MYSTIC KREWE OF MARDI PAWS DOG PARADE: SUNDAY, MARCH 5TH

Mandeville Lakefront. This year’s theme: the Chinese Zodiac's "Year of the Dog"! Don't miss this walking parade featuring hundreds of canines and their owners in costume, great throws, and plenty of activities at parade's end for kids! LOOKING FOR ARTISTS…

 SLIDELL LITTLE THEATRE HOLDING AUDITIONS FOR "CAMELOT". Will be held at 2:00 pm on March 4, and 3:00 pm on March 5. Auditions will be held at 2024 Nellie Dr., Slidell.

4TH ANNUAL OZONE FILM FESTIVAL. LOUISIANA SUBMISSION ENTRY DEADLINE, MARCH 10. The 4th annual Ozone Film Festival, dedicated to promoting independent film, highlighting local, regional and national films by both amateur and professional filmmakers, with an emphasis on Louisiana content, will take place April 21-23 in Covington, Louisiana.  This year's theme is "Renew * Restore * Revive". Submission forms for shorts, documentaries and features can be downloaded at www.ozonefilmfest.org. Running time for shorts are 20 minutes or less; documentaries up to 90 minutes; features must be at least 80 minutes. Submissions are accepted on DVD and video format. All genres will be considered. Submission deadline is March 10. Previous festival highlights include the world premiere of Steven Shainberg’s SECRETARY, A LOVE SONG FOR BOBBY LONG, starring John Travolta and Scarlett Johansson and last years’ winners being represented at the Cannes Film Festival. OFF will present short films under the stars at Haik Park (an outdoor venue), features at Covington Hall and documentaries shown continuously at The Green Room. NOCCA|RIVERFRONT OFFERS AUDITION INFORMATION SESSIONS IN ST.TAMMANY PARISH FOR PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS: New Orleans Center for Creative Arts|Riverfront (NOCCA|Riverfront) will conduct audition information sessions for prospective students and their parents on Saturday, March 11, 10 a.m. at the Slidell Branch Public Library (555 Robert Road) and 2 p.m. at the Causeway Branch Public Library (3457 Highway 190, Mandeville). The information sessions provide the opportunity for potential students to ask questions about specific discipline audition requirements. Faculty members from the Visual Arts Department will provide examples of work that a successful candidate should have in their portfolio. Students who are interested in attending are asked to RSVP by calling 504.940.2854 or emailing: bhammell@nocca.com. NOCCA|Riverfront offers instruction in dance, instrumental and vocal music, jazz, drama, musical theatre, theatre design, media arts, visual arts and creative writing. Students earn high school credit for NOCCA|Riverfront coursework. Tuition is free and classes are open to all Louisiana students who successfully audition. ARTS EVENING 2006: The City of Slidell’s Department of Cultural & Public Affairs is now accepting applications for fine artists who wish to participate in Arts Evening 2006. LOUISIANA PERCENT FOR ART PROGRAM
CALL FOR ARTISTS…

The Louisiana Percent for Art Program seeks an artist or artist team to create a site-specific “Gateway Sculpture” for the downtown Baton Rouge Market Square located at the Galvez Parking Garage. CLASSES & TRAINING…

THE LOUISIANA DIVISION OF THE ARTS ANNUAL ARTS FUNDING “How to Navigate the Application Roadmap” WORKSHOPS: St. Tammany Parish, March 9, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. St. Tammany Parish Council Chambers, 21490 Koop Drive, Mandeville. Workshops and grant applications are open to visual artists, craftsmen, musicians, creative writers, designers, theater and dance professionals in addition to nonprofit/governmental entities whose mission is to provide arts programming to the public. Grants are also available for the development of arts education programs in schools. All workshops and sessions are free. SLIDELL CULTURAL CENTER OFFERING "ART IS LIFE" PINS: For a $10 donation (or more) you can have a Support the Arts collectible pin.  Proceeds are dedicated to restoring and rebuilding the Slidell Cultural Center and the return of art exhibits and cultural events throughout the year.
