Katharsis Exhibit Opens Saturday, March 18 in Slidell.

Katharsis: Artistic Expressions by St. Tammany resident artists in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Exhibit opens with a reception on Saturday, March 18, from 6-8pm, in the Slidell Art League Gallery, 1827 Front St. (Train Depot Building), in Slidell, LA. The exhibit is free, and the public is encouraged to attend. The artwork and the reception are sponsored by the St. Tammany Arts Commission. Special thanks to the Slidell Art League, and the City of Slidell Department of Cultural and Public Affairs for their assistance with this exhibit. THE ST. TAMMANY ART ASSOCIATION WELCOMES ALEXANDER STOLIN. Once Upon a Time in Ukraine, Once Upon a Time in America. Stolin’s paintings, in oil, wax and found materials, feature images from around the Madisonville, Louisiana area and from his youth in the Ukraine.  Show runs through Saturday, April 15. MO’S ART SUPPLY & FRAMING PRESENTS MARCIE GOTTSCHALCK. 323 N. Columbia St., Covington. Marcie’s paintings combine a taught graphic style full of intense color and pattern with a poignant emotional content.  Marcie is a self-taught artist from Goodbee, Louisiana, who is collected both nationally & internationally.  Her work will be on exhibit at Mo’s through the spring.  Call 809-6854.

MINACAPELLI'S DINNER PLAYHOUSE PRESENTS "A COUPLA WHITE CHICKS SITTING AROUND TALKING" by John Ford Noonan, 1540 Lindberg Dr., Slidell. - Fridays and Saturdays March 17 thru April 8 at 6:30 and Sunday Matinees on March 26 ant April 2 at 1:30.  This zany comedy takes place in the breakfast nook of the archetypal suburban housewife in Westchester County, N.Y.  Maude is having a tough day: her husband is off on a weekend spree with his secretary and she can't get rid of her pesky neighbor who has just moved up from Texas.  The neighbor pesters Maude until they become friends and eventually join forces against their errant and erring husbands. ARTS EVENING 2006: The City of Slidell’s Department of Cultural & Public Affairs is now accepting applications for fine artists who wish to participate in Arts Evening 2006. Application forms may be found in the PR and Media section on the Arts Evening website at www.slidell.la.us/artsevening. The St. Tammany Arts Commission is pleased to present a Purchase Award at this event. The selected artwork will be installed in a government building as part of the St. Tammany Parish Public Art Collection. LOUISIANA PERCENT FOR ART PROGRAM

THE LOUISIANA PERCENT FOR ART PROGRAM SEEKS AN ARTIST OR ARTIST TEAM TO CREATE A SCULPTURAL WORK that aesthetically unifies three individual sites on the grounds of the Livingston Building in the Capitol Park area of downtown Baton Rouge.  The Commission budget: $153,160.  This Call is not limited to Louisiana artists, but preference will be given to Louisiana artists.  Details and photos at our web page http://www.crt.state.la.us/arts  at the percent for art link.
