
BATON ROUGE, La. — The Slidell Disaster Recovery Center (DRC), presently located at 105 Robert Boulevard in Slidell, Louisiana will close on Saturday, March 25 at 5 p.m. and reopen at a new location, North Shore Harbor Center, 100 Harbor Center Boulevard at 9 a.m. on Monday, March 27.
“This DRC has already served more than 37,000 applicants at the original location since it opened on Sept.19, 2005.” said Federal Coordinating Officer Scott Wells. “We will continue to assist Slidell area applicants at the new location for as long as the need exists.”
Applicants may also access information by calling the Helpline at 1-800-621-3362. Hearing-or speech- impaired individuals may call 1-800-462-7585. Both numbers are available from 6 a.m. to midnight, seven days a week. All DRC’s operate from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and are closed on Sundays.

Representatives of
state, federal, as well as customer service representatives from the U.S.
Small Business Administration, are on hand to answer questions and provide
recovery information. No cash, checks, debit cards or vouchers are
distributed at Disaster Recovery Centers. These centers are for the
dissemination of information to assist in victim recovery. Written materials
about various state and federal programs are also available to individuals
and business owners.
FEMA manages federal response and recovery efforts following any national
incident. FEMA also initiates mitigation activities, works with state and local
emergency managers, and manages the National Flood Insurance Program. FEMA
became part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security on March 1, 2003.
