SALAD DAYS ARTS EXHIBITION SEEKS CHILDREN’S ARTWORK. Salad Days 2006 Juried Exhibition of Student Art, is celebrating its fifteenth year. The juried exhibition remains the only one of its kind in the area, offering students from age five through nineteen an opportunity to have their works featured in a formal gallery setting. The Salad Days competition is open to artists between the ages of 5 and 19 residing in St. Tammany Parish. (College students are not eligible.) The juror for this year’s competition is Terry DeRoche, a visual artist that has been working in the computer arts since 1998, blending digital photographs, painting and text. 3RD ANNUAL MULTI-MEDIA JURIED ART COMPETITION: Forum 35, will host the The Art Melt: A Fusion of Art, Jazz & Forum 35, a juried art show. They are currently seeking original artwork submissions from artists, 18+, residing in Louisiana or are displaced by hurricanes Katrina or Rita but plan to return to Louisiana. All selected artwork will be on display and available for purchase. The Art Melt Event will take place on Friday July 14th with a preview gala organized by the Community Fund for the Arts taking place on Thursday July 13th. The show will remain up for 1 week in the Brunner Gallery. Prizes will be awarded for 1st place ($2000); 2nd place ($1000); and 3rd place ($500). There will also be an editor’s choice award, chosen by the editors of Country Roads Magazine, for inclusion in a cover story. Deadline for art submission is Wednesday, May 31st.
