Parish Animal Services Attends Disaster Training

The St. Tammany Parish Department of Animal Services will attend a training program dealing with Disasters and Animal Rescues from July 10 through July 12.  The Animal Shelter will continue to operate during this training but with a reduced staff.  Department director Dr. Brent Robbins asks that citizens who need services during this period allow extra time for response.

“I am taking full advantage of this opportunity to train our staff,” said Robbins.  “We learned a lot during last hurricane season and this seminar will continue our training.  Our animal control officers and kennel caretakers have done an outstanding job during past storm seasons and want to expand our services to the community.  Additional training will help us better serve citizens.”

The Disaster and Animal Rescue training will be held at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. For more information about adopting a pet from the St. Tammany Parish Animal Shelter, call 809-0183.
