ST. TAMMANY ART ASSOCIATION PRESENTS 41ST ANNUAL JURIED ARTISTS EXHIBITION: THE SUMMER SHOW . 320 N. Columbia St.   Covington. Opens Saturday, July 8 , 6-9pm. NORTH SHORE UNITARIAN UNIVERSALISTS: JULY ARTIST OF THE MONTH.  Roy Grob of Covington.  His vividly-colored acrylic paintings of New Orleans historic buildings will be hanging through July and can be viewed on Sunday between 11am and 1pm. CITY OF MANDEVILLE:  JULY ARTIST OF THE MONTH. 3101 E. Causeway Approach, Mandeville.  July Artist featuring Bob Viosca, accomplished artist and world traveler sums up his 45 years of artistic endeavors this way:  "My painting  style is somewhere between impressionism and realism, with subject matters of all kinds."  This exhibit sponsored by Mayor Price and the City Council is free and open to the public Monday through Friday from 9:00 to 4:30. TAMMANY TRACE PRESENTS JAMMIN' ON THE TRACE. Tammany Trace Trailhead Caboose, Koop Dr., Mandeville. Five bands will compete July 13th. First, second and third place awards will be given.  The 1st and 2nd place winners will compete against each other on August 10th. One band will be crowned “Jammin’ on the Trace” Champ.  Prizes and honorariums will be awarded.  The performances will be taped and broadcast on Access St. Tammany, Channel 10. “Jammin’ on the Trace” is sponsored by St. Tammany Parish Government, St. Tammany Arts Commission, and the Tammany Trace Foundation.  Assistance is also provided by the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Reserve. ST. TAMMANY PARISH LIBRARY PRESENTS SUMMER READING CLUB 2006, "Paws To Read." Kids are invited to get their paws on some books and join in the fun of learning about various types of pets during our 2006 Louisiana Summer Reading Program. Kids from birth to 11.  Each branch will host weekly story times with special guests including storytellers Dianne de Las Casas, Grayhawk, and Miss Lillie; musicians Papillion, Journey of the Drum and Philip Melancon; demonstrations by police dogs; magic by Tricky Trigg; a visit from Daisy the Pig and comedian for kids Fuzzlebob.  The summer will end with parties and special performances of the "tail" of "Puss In Boots" by the Calliope Puppet Theatre. ST. TAMMANY PARISH LIBRARY PRESENTS TWEENS AND TEENS AT THE LIBRARY. COVINGTON THREE RIVERS ART FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES FINAL CALL FOR ENTRIES. The final application deadline for this year’s festival is August 1, 2006.  The 2006 Festival will be November 11 & 12. ST. TAMMANY ART ASSOCIATION-SUMMER CLASSES. The St. Tammany Art Association is offering summer classes in ceramics, sculpture, drawing, painting, theatre and photography. PLAYMAKERS SUMMER THEATER CAMPS. Levy/Playmakers to stage Alice in Wonderland, Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves, and The Sword in the Stone for kids ages 5-16. Each fully-supervised camp day includes sessions in stage movement, line delivery, improvisation, fundamentals of theater, dance, and the staging of a production. Part of each day will also be dedicated to actual preparation for the end-of-camp show. Camps available: Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves at Greater Covington Center July 17-22. 3 DAY Advanced Actors Workshop at Playmakers July 26-28. The Sword in the Stone at Playmakers July 31-August 13. SLIDELL CULTURAL CENTER OFFERING “ART IS LIFE” PINS. For a $10 donation (or more) you can have a Support the Arts collectible pin. Proceeds are dedicated to restoring and rebuilding the Slidell Cultural Center and the return of art exhibits and cultural events throughout the year. THE LOUISIANA CULTURAL ECONOMY FOUNDATION supports Louisiana’s cultural industries. The Foundation now has relief grants available to fund losses sustained as a result of Hurricanes Katrina & Rita.
