School Supply Give Away Success
The School Supply Give Away sponsored by the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., the Community Uplift Foundation and the St. Tammany Parish Department of Community Action was a big success. The program provided free school supplies for low income families on Saturday, August 12 from Covington and Slidell locations. Households received supplies for 294 children from 113 households. All supplies were given away.
Corporate contributors include Wal Mart, Office Depot, Rite Aid, Academy Sports, Office Essentials and Walgreens.
“This program was a big success,” said Parish President Kevin Davis. “I can’t thank all the volunteers and contributors enough for their hard work. It is so important for our children to not only have the proper supplies for learning, but to have pride in their first day of school. A new notebook or book bag can make a difference for our children.”
