A Ceremony of Respect, Remembrance & Hope

            All members of the community are invited to attend the following ceremony: 

Presentation of Colors – St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office 

Star Spangled Banner – Sara Pagones 

Welcome/Master of Ceremonies – Parish President Kevin Davis 

Prayer for those lost in body or in spirit  –  Reverend Frank Lipps, Our Lady of Lourdes 

Statement of Appreciation for St. Tammany Law Enforcement Officers – Sheriff Jack Strain 

Prayer for strength in the ongoing recovery – Rabbi Jeff Kurtz-Lendner, Northshore Jewish Congregation 

Statement of Appreciation for St. Tammany Firefighters and Medical First Responders – Fire Superintendent John O’Neil 

Prayer for the future of our community & for strength - Pastor Steve Robinson, Church of the King 

Remarks – Senator Mary Landrieu 

(We are waiting confirmation from Senator Vitter and Congressman Jindal) 

Closing – The future of St. Tammany – Parish President Kevin Davis 

Attendees will be invited to cast white carnations, donated by CLECO, into Lake Pontchartrain as a symbol of remembrance and respect for the losses brought by Katrina.  They will then be given a pack of flower seeds, donated by Lowes, to plant across the Parish as a sign of rebirth.  Music:  Amazing Grace by bagpiper Shad Stout. 

On display:  Katharsis – an exhibit of seven works of art commissioned by the St. Tammany Arts Commission from local artists, post-Katrina with grant funds from Americans for the Arts.  Also – Information about economic recovery will be available from the Chambers of Commerce.
