The Louisiana Folklore Society is seeking papers that deal with the emergence of community, carnival, and expressive culture in Louisiana in the re-building of the region. We are particularly interested in papers and presentations that deal with carnival, in its many manifestations, across the state, nation, and in global contexts. ST. TAMMANY ART ASSOCIATION IS SENDING OUT A CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS FOR THE ST. TAMMANY NATIONAL ONE-ACT PLAY FESTIVAL, IN HONOR OF WALKER PERCY: The festival will be held January 12-13, 2007 at the Greater Covington Center. Four one-acts will be chosen to be presented as rehearsed readings during the two-day festival. Each of the winning playwrights will receive a $100 prize and an opportunity to see their work presented to the public with a critique by a panel of theatre professionals. A recently announced “Art for Artifact” program will give a limited edition color reproduction of a 1920’s era poster promoting the City to anyone providing useful historical information that can be used in the Cultural and Interpretive Center planned at the Trailhead in Old Mandeville.
