HOLIDAY EVENTS…   

ST. TAMMANY PARISH GOVERNMENT & TAMMANY TRACE FOUNDATION PRESENT 7th ANNUAL HOLIDAY OF LIGHTS:
Location: Tammany Trace Trailhead, 21490 Koop Dr, Hwy 59 north of I-12.
Date/time: December 1 & 2, and 8 & 9, 6-9pm. Friday, Dec. 1, 6pm. Parish President Kevin Davis will flip the switch to light the Parish’s 160 ft. Christmas tree. Music by local schools and church groups, carnival-type rides and concessions, Santa and photos.
Admission: Free.
Event Details: Community-wide, family oriented event featuring over 40,000 holiday lights on 32 displays, 160 foot Christmas Tree constructed of lights, Tunnel of lights, 15 foot snowman and much more. Decorations will be lit from dark – 8pm every day until January 2, 2007.

CITY OF MANDEVILLE PRESENTS WINTER ON THE WATER:
Location:  City Hall, 3101 E. Causeway Approach.

Admission: Free.
Event Details: Annual Christmas celebration which includes a parade, mayor turning on the lights, Cajun Christmas Tales, Benny & the Grunch.

LACOMBE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE PRESENTS 51ST ANNUAL SANTA ON THE BAYOU:
Location: Hwy 190, downtown Lacombe
Date/time: December 2, 1pm       
Admission:   Free.
Event Details:  Santa arrives by boat and the parade begins.  Following the parade, Santa will greet the children and join them in a traditional Christmas Party.  Pictures can be taken with Santa and entertainment will be provided by Papillion.

NORTHSHORE ACADEMY OF DANCE PRESENTS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS:
Location: The Greater Covington Center, 317 N. Jefferson St., Covington

LOUISIANA STATE UNIVERSITY, BATON ROUGE ANNOUNCES CALL FOR PAPERS:  Louisiana Folklore Society Meeting, March 9-10, 2007. "Community, Culture, and Carnival: Emerging and Lasting Traditions". The Louisiana Folklore Society is seeking papers that deal with the emergence of community, carnival, and expressive culture in Louisiana in the re-building of the region. We are particularly interested in papers and presentations that deal with carnival, in its many manifestations, across the state, nation, and in global contexts. SLIDELL ART LEAGUE RAFFLE:  Southwest Airlines has donated two round trip tickets to a destination of the winner’s choice within the continental U.S.  Raffle sales will benefit the league and its many community directed programs.   Tickets are on sale for $1 each or six for $5 and are available through any SAL member or in the Gallery in the Train Depot on Front St., Slidell. SLIDELL CULTURAL CENTER OFFERING “ART IS LIFE” PINS. For a $10 donation (or more) you can have a Support the Arts collectible pin.
