DECENTRALIZED ARTS FUNDING GRANTS PROGRAM GUIDELINES AND APPLICATION FORMS AVAILABLE: 

Guidelines and application forms are now available for the Decentralized Arts Funding (DAF) Grants Program for St. Tammany and St. Bernard Parishes, and may be downloaded at www.stpgov.org/arts.   Applications are available for arts project assistance, organizational support, and a new category this year – recovery assistance.  All projects must occur between October 1, 2007 and September 30, 2008 (Fiscal Year 2008 - FY08).  If you have questions about the Decentralized Funding Program or any of our workshops, please contact Dána La Fonta, Assistant Director of Cultural & Governmental Affairs - St. Tammany Parish, at 985-898-5243

ST. TAMMANY ART ASSOCIATION PRESENTS IKEBANA WORKSHOP:  The art of Japanese flower arranging will be taught by Dr. Betty Lyons, president of the New Orleans Ikebana Society.  May 5, 11am-3pm at the STAA, 320 N. ST. TAMMANY ART ASSOCIATION IS NOW TAKING ENROLLMENT FOR KIDS SUMMER CAMPS:  In addition, STAA also offers a full slate of after-school, evening and weekend arts education for children, teens and adults.  Beginners and experienced artists alike can choose from studio art classes in drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, art history, or performance education in acting and voice.  Children’s classes start at age 5 up to age 14, with adult classes starting at 15 or 18.  Details are available by calling 985-892-8650 or emailing stassn@bellsouth.net. SLIDELL ART LEAGUE ARTIST DON EDWARDS WILL CONDUCT TWO WORKSHOPS:  “Plein Aire” (outdoor painting) class on May 12 and “Watercolor Basics” class on May 19.  Classes will meet from 9:30am until 3:30pm in the Slidell Art League Gallery, 1827 Front St., Slidell.  Cost of each session is $20 for members, $30 for non-members, $10 for teens.  To register and obtain a supply list, call 985-847-9458.
